At Sand & See we want paying for your order to be simple and secure. This page explains which payment methods we accept, how your payment details are protected, and what happens if something goes wrong.
1. Payment methods we accept
You can pay for your order using any of the following:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- Maestro
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Shop Pay
All available payment methods are shown at checkout before you confirm your order. If your preferred method is not listed there, it is not currently available for your order.
2. Prices, currency and fees
All prices on our store are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where it applies.
We do not charge any payment surcharges, processing fees or handling fees. Shipping is free on every order, so the total shown at checkout is the full amount you pay — there are no costs added afterwards.
If your card or account is held in another currency, your bank or card issuer may apply its own conversion rate or international transaction fee. That charge comes from them, not from us, and we have no control over it.
3. When your payment is taken
Your payment is authorised and taken when you place your order. Once payment has been confirmed and we have accepted your order, you will receive an order confirmation by email.
An order is only accepted once payment has been successfully processed. Placing an order does not on its own create a contract — see our Terms of Service for details.
4. Secure checkout
Every page on our store, including the entire checkout, is protected by SSL/TLS encryption. This scrambles the information you send us — such as your address and payment details — so that it cannot be read by anyone who intercepts it in transit.
You can confirm that a connection is secure by looking at your browser's address bar: a padlock icon and a web address beginning with https:// mean the connection is encrypted.
5. PCI DSS compliance
Our checkout is processed through payment providers that are certified compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
PCI DSS is the global security standard for any organisation that handles card data. It is set by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council and covers how card information must be stored, processed and transmitted in order to reduce the risk of card fraud and data theft.
6. What we can and cannot see
We never have access to your full card number. When you pay, your card details go directly to our PCI DSS compliant payment provider — they do not pass through our systems and we do not store them.
Once your order is complete, all we can see is:
- your billing information
- your delivery information
- your order details
- the card type and the last 4 digits of the card used
Your full card number, expiry date and security code (CVV) are never visible to us or to our staff.
7. Declined or failed payments
If your payment is declined, your order will not be processed and no money will be taken. This usually happens because of a typing error in the card details, insufficient funds, an expired card, or a security check by your bank.
Please check your details and try again, or use a different payment method. If the problem continues, contact your bank or card issuer first — they can tell you why the payment was refused. We are not told the reason.
You may sometimes see a pending authorisation on your account for a declined order. This is not a charge, and your bank will release it automatically, usually within a few business days.
8. Order verification and fraud prevention
To protect both you and us, some orders are automatically screened for signs of fraud. If an order is flagged, we may contact you to confirm a few details before we dispatch it.
We may cancel and fully refund an order where we are unable to verify the payment or the details provided. If this happens to your order, we will always email you to explain.
9. Refunds
Refunds are always paid back to the original payment method used for the order. We cannot refund to a different card, account or payment method.
Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving your return. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it can take a few additional business days for the money to appear on your statement. Full details are in our Returns & Refunds Policy.
10. Your privacy
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal or payment information to anyone. Information is shared only with the providers that are needed to process your payment and deliver your order, and only to the extent required.
Our Privacy Policy explains in full what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this payment policy from time to time to reflect changes to the payment methods we offer or to our providers. The current version is always shown on this page.
